The artist

Born in 1974, the Franco-Algerian artist Samy Halim grew up near Algeria’s largest palm grove, where colors seemed to blend in the sunlight, warming buildings, faces, and landscapes. At 20, in 1994, he was in Algiers during the civil war, receiving a classical art education at the Higher School of Fine Arts in Algiers amid the country’s turmoil. Moving to France in 1994, he worked as a graphic designer and artistic director in Paris for 15 years before establishing his illustration studio in 2011. His unique style solidified through collaborations with major advertising groups. Drawing inspiration from the vibrant aesthetic of the 80s/90s and the urban culture explosion, Samy creates bright colors and powerful forms. Using ordinary people as subjects, he elevates them into true icons of Pop Art. With meticulous application and the patience required for Art Deco refinement, he seeks healing and tranquility through artistic practice. Samy Halim is among the 222 artists chosen to exhibit at the first lunar art museum in human history, Lunaprise. This innovative museum is set to launch on the first quarter of 2024, from the iconic Cap Canaveral launch site.
